In the app
- Open Gistmo and go to Settings, then Security.
- Want a copy of your data first? Tap Download my data.
- Tap Delete account, read what will happen, and type DELETE.
- Confirm with your transaction PIN, or, if you have no PIN, the code we email you.
Without the app
If you can’t sign in any more, email privacy@gistmo.app from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my Gistmo account” and your @username if you know it. To make sure the request is really yours, we will reply with a code to that address before deleting anything. We complete requests within 30 days [NEEDS LEGAL REVIEW: confirm the response period].
What is deleted
- Your profile, photo and cover, friends, friend requests and blocks.
- Your chats list and chat settings, reactions, stars, stories, Snaps, calls list, game scores, location, notification settings and devices, PIN, and Gistmo AI chats.
- Photos, videos, voice notes, files, locations and contact cards you sent. In other people’s chats those messages show as deleted.
- Your sign-in. Every device you were signed in on is signed out.
What is kept
- Text messages you sent to other people stay in their chats, because they are part of those people’s conversations, but they are no longer linked to your account.
- Gistmo Cash: you can’t delete your account while there is money in your wallet or a payment is still going through, so withdraw your balance first. After deletion, your wallet, payment and identity-check records are kept for as long as financial law requires, then deleted. [NEEDS LEGAL REVIEW: retention period]
- A short record that your account was deleted and when, as proof we did it. [NEEDS LEGAL REVIEW: retention period]
- Copies in our hosting provider’s encrypted backups until those backups expire. [NEEDS LEGAL REVIEW: backup period]
